Biography
S. Wayne
Taylor, Jr., MD
Wayne Taylor
is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with additional training and
clinical expertise in vitreoretinal surgery. His interest include
all diseases of the retina and vitreous including diabetic retinopathy,
age-related macular degeneration, and treatment of ocular trauma.
A native of
Montgomery, Alabama, Dr. Taylor graduated Summa Cum Laude from the
University of Alabama in 1986 (Phi Beta Kappa) and received his
medical degree from the University Of Alabama School of Medicine
in 1990 (AOA Honorary).
Dr. Taylor completed
a Medical/Surgical Internship at Carraway Methodist Medical Center,
and his Ophthalmology residency at The Eye Foundation Hospital/University
of Alabama at Birmingham Combined Program in Ophthalmology, serving
as Chief Resident his senior year. He then completed a two year
vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at UAB and The Eye Foundation
Hospital.
Dr. Taylor sees
patients both in the Tuscaloosa office of Retina Specialists of
Alabama and at the Birmingham office. He operates on a regular schedule
at Druid City Hospital and at HealthSouth Medical Center and the
Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital. Dr. and Mrs. Taylor reside in
Tuscaloosa.
